True to its name, just about the coolest people are bound to show up to Cat's in Cancun. That's because the music - and the mood - is right for relaxation and good vibes with which nearly anyone hip enough to come in here is bound to dance and drink night away. You see, the folks here at Cat's are just as interested in having a good time as the next person, but their philosophy is a little bit atypical. That's right, it's peaceful and as such the Cat's club and dance hall is truly forging its path of existence in Cancun. It's going to end up being much different from the mostly rabid - although exciting, indeed - tourist seasons here at this tropical vacation resort.
If you haven't guessed already it will be useful for you to note that the two major musical genres featured here are reggae and hip-hop - about as cool as it can get, cat. I should admit that when I first came here I was a little bit jaded by the thought of what has been commonly referred to in some circles as JARC (Just
Another Reggae Club). But after a few days in Cancun, I was very enthusiastic about finding some diversity in the entertainment scene.
Here it should be mentioned that finding more than just the typical tourist trap is definitely possible in this town - you just have to know where to look. So I slinked on over to this super chill scene a little bit wary, but hoping for the best. As soon as I walked in the door however, I realized I'd gotten something a lot better than I'd expected. It's more than just some alternative place to go or the bored treatment of some over exaggerated strain of "reggae fever," I found that this place was truly geared toward it patrons having the best time possible. And it's incredibly sexy, too.
So, happy vacationers like you who stumble into this intoxicatingly friendly and lively night club will find it mysteriously easy to begin dancing to a great reggae band. Depending on the night, you could also be throwing your hands in the air to a supercharged hip hop band. Don't be surprised if a little bit of the college-kid influence seeps in here on these nights; after all, you're still in Cancun. But for the most part, this is a great place to dance and drink. Meeting interesting people is also possible here, a bit moreso than in some of the more mainstream venues in the zona hotelera and other areas around Cancun.
