When happy Cancun vacationers like you approach the Riu Palace Las Americas, of the first features of this gigantic 368-suite, three-and-a-half star hotel that you may notice are the multiple wings of old-style architecture surrounding a beautiful crystal clear pool that opens out into the wide expanse of the Caribbean Sea. Indeed, this resort destination lives up to both luxury and finesse, and despite the slightly lower star rating, you are sure to be impressed.
Centrally located right by all of the action that makes Cancun the fun center that it is, the elegant Riu Palace Las Americas is actually a splendid place to take in the ultimate in relaxation. The architecture, for one thing, is stunning. On the outside it at first appears almost colonial (which could be misleading for those who aren't aware that before the 1970's, Cancun was all sand). Then, the beach front pool outside might convince you that you're on the other side of the world - somewhere in ancient Greece or Italy - because not only do copper statues jut out from the aqua marine expanse of the swimming pool but also because of the white pillar gazebos symmetrically placed on either side of the entry way where the waters of the Ocean intermingle with the pool water.
Once inside, you'll find that the ancient column theme is far from being abandoned. Instead, the columns are made from a riche red marble which embellishes the tastefully elegant furnishings which include fine lace work in the draperies and exquisite chandeliers. You'll feel like royalty here at the Riu Palace Las Americas. Indeed, the banquet room as well is far from slack - every last detail is rounded off with a Victorian flourish so as to produce the maximum luxurious effect.
In your room you'll find the most superb amenities imaginable. Book a room in advance and make sure to get one of the suites with the ocean view. Most of them feature balconies with this view, but just don't get caught on the wrong side of the hotel. In my experience, I found the balcony one of the most delightful places to spend my afternoons sipping cocktails from the minibar and listening to the tinkling sounds of laughter from happy vacationers down below. When I wanted to be closer to the action, all I had to do was go downstairs. Sunbathing by the pool is one of the better places to relax. There, you can listen to the waves lap against the shore and feel the warm Caribbean breezes caress your face as you lie back in your lazy chair.
While Riu Palaces Las Americas is also in the heart of Cancun action, it boasts all of the great features of a resort. It's so full of fun things to do - and kid friendly as well - that you may never need to leave this exceptional Cancun destination.
Visitors can find the Riu Palace Las Americas off of the 4 km marker - "Lote 4" - in Benito Juarez-Quintana Roo, Cancun 77500, Mexico.
